comic-book-theft sting

What happened after

Burger restaurant (full brand name 'Super Action Burger') still operating with an active reservation system.

What happened on the show

Vlane Carter, a comics creator, ran a superhero-themed Brooklyn burger restaurant and was losing collectible comic books amid staff-and-customer arguments. Charles Stiles' investigator Dennis traced the stolen comics to an anonymous online seller, and mystery diners Beatrice and Jamie went in as a cashier and a customer. As aired, an actress hired to play one of Vlane's characters was behind the theft and resale, lowballing a diner for a comic she flipped online at a huge markup, while a cook kept abandoning the kitchen for selfies, burning burgers. The confrontation has Vlane firing the actress and putting a manager on probation. Because Mystery Diners was later accused of scripting these reveals, this comic-book sting is best read as broadcast rather than as documented event.

After the cameras left

Action Burger is still open, a going Williamsburg concern the episode never threatened. Now billed as Super Action Burger, it keeps an active reservation system at 292 Graham Avenue with a busy social page in our 2026 pass, the fuller name reading as branding rather than a formal rename. A themed independent that appeared on a crisis show simply kept flipping burgers, its survival the ordinary kind rather than a rescue. The comic-theft drama made an episode; it was never the measure of whether this room would last.
