Zoog's Caveman Cookin

Port Hadlock, Washington

CLOSED

Closed. The business shut its doors in 2015.

The short answer

Closed after failing to secure lease-renewal funding.

What happened on the show

With a caveman theme and a spot on Chimacum Road in Port Hadlock, Washington, Zoog's Caveman Cookin brought real personality to its tenth season visit. Owner Bret Forsberg, known as Zoog, got the show's usual forty eight hour rebuild on a deliberately small remodeling fund, though the specific dysfunction Irvine addressed is not preserved in any Wikipedia synopsis and stays unstated here. The ending was concrete and quickly reported. In March 2015 the Peninsula Daily News covered the restaurant closing within days, after Forsberg found he could not afford a 16,000 dollar lease renewal fee, with MapQuest independently marking the listing closed. Zoog's falls among the tenth season closures, a themed spot undone less by its food than by the economics of keeping its lease.

After the cameras left

Zoog's Caveman Cookin closed at the end of March 2015. The Peninsula Daily News reported the restaurant would shut at the end of a Thursday, dated to March 26, after owner Bret Forsberg could not cover a lease-renewal fee of roughly sixteen thousand dollars; a MapQuest listing independently marks it closed, so this is a high-confidence call. The Port Hadlock spot fell not to bad food but to a lease it could not carry, closing within weeks of the deadline the paper described.
