Love Bites
Saugerties, NY
It changed hands. The business was sold in 2023. It now operates as New cafe under new ownership, same address (specific new name not found in sources).
The short answer
Owners Tess Robinson and Christopher Keff closed/transitioned the diner in July 2023, about one month after Ramsay's visit, via a Facebook post: 'the time has come...on to our next adventure...leaving you in very good hands,' stating their recipes and imprint would continue 'through the new cafe.' This reads as a deliberate ownership handoff rather than a business collapse, though the specific successor cafe's name is not given in available sources.
What happened on the show
Love Bites was run by an engaged couple, Chris Keff and Tess Robinson, childhood sweethearts in Saugerties, New York who could not separate their relationship from their work, and Ramsay's job was as much to save the engagement as the cafe. What he found unsettled him: he was shocked by how aggressively Keff spoke to Robinson, and said he had never been to a restaurant as toxic as this one. The small diner's dysfunction was rooted less in the food than in the way the couple treated each other under pressure, and the June 2023 episode became a study in whether two people that entangled could run a business together at all. It was one of the reboot's rawer emotional cases, a rescue aimed squarely at the people rather than the plates.
After the cameras left
Love Bites did not so much fail as hand itself off. About a month after Ramsay's visit, in July 2023, Tess Robinson and Christopher Keff announced via Facebook that the time had come to move on to their next adventure, leaving the place, they said, in very good hands, with their recipes carrying on through a new cafe at the same address. The specific successor's name did not surface in reporting, but the language points to a deliberate ownership transfer rather than a collapse, an ending more amicable than the toxic dynamic the episode captured.
