The Dovecote Bistro (renamed Martins' Bistro)
Okehampton, Devon, England
This one did not make it. The business closed in 2015. The site is now home to Graylings (site continuity unconfirmed).
The short answer
Reverted to the Dovecote name after the Martin family's run, then closed around 2015; a fish-and-chip restaurant called Graylings currently trades in Okehampton, though direct site continuity with the former Dovecote/Martin's Bistro premises was not independently confirmed.
What happened on the show
Mick was a former trucker and burger-van man who had opened a bistro in Okehampton alongside his wife Mo and their adopted daughter Michelle. Ramsay recoiled at the psychedelic wallpaper but liked the simple menu, at least until he saw how Mick cooked it: orange squash pressed into service as a sauce, vacuum-sealed lamb shanks left unrefrigerated and then microwaved. Mick took no responsibility for any of it, was secretive about his spending, and sat on a mountain of debt. His refusal to admit fault opened a rift with his wife and daughter. Ramsay's answer was to take the business out of Mick's hands and remove him from the kitchen altogether, installing Michelle in charge despite her having no cooking experience. She rose to it. Mick stayed unconvinced about giving up his microwave, but the reopening worked, and months on the bistro, renamed Martins' Bistro during production, was turning a profit, with Michelle sent for further culinary training.
After the cameras left
After the Martin family's run the place reverted to the Dovecote name and then closed, around 2015. A fish and chip restaurant called Graylings now trades in Okehampton, though whether it occupies the former bistro's premises we could not independently confirm. We flag this as low confidence: neither available source is local news or a primary record, both being retrospective blogs, and a company-records search could not isolate a matching entity. We kept the entry rather than drop it because the two independently run sources agree on the specifics, the 2015 closure and the successor's name. Site continuity, though, remains unconfirmed.
