Sandbar Sports Grill
Coconut Grove, Florida
Still open. It kept its doors open after the show.
What happened after
Orlando Weekly (independent alt-weekly retrospective, secondary source, capped at medium confidence) reports the owners reverted the name back to Sandbar Sports Grill after briefly rebranding as 'The Hot Rock Bar & Grille' during the show, and the venue remains operational.
What happened on the show
An owner more invested in his fantasy football team than his actual business was letting an outdated college sports bar drift. At Sandbar Sports Grill in Coconut Grove, Taffer had to get the owner's partner to take real control while the owner stayed glued to his lineup, and for the recon he brought in a pair of local radio DJs to read the room as customers. The rescue worked to modernize a tired college bar and shift the operational weight onto the partner who actually cared, then reopened the venue under a new name, The Hot Rock Bar and Grille. The bet was that an engaged partner and a refreshed concept could pull a dated room back into relevance in a competitive Miami nightlife market, whether or not the fantasy-obsessed owner ever fully reengaged.
After the cameras left
Sandbar survived, and under its own original name. Orlando Weekly reports that the owners reverted from the Hot Rock rebrand back to Sandbar Sports Grill and that the venue remains operational at 3064 Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove, a secondary source that holds the open call at medium confidence. Facebook activity with a post referenced in May 2026 and 2025-dated reviews corroborate ongoing business. The college bar kept going and kept its name, landing this one among the survivors even after shedding the rescue's rebrand.
