Revisited in Back to the Bar: Brick & Barley Above Water (S5E17, aired 2017-03-12) as Stein Haus Brau & Brats

What happened after

closeddownrestaurants.com (independent listing site) was named as the source for a closed-status entry dated around November 2025 for the venue's post-show name, Stein Haus Brau & Brats, but the specific listing URL was not captured before the search outage.

What happened on the show

A castle-shaped bar run by an owner with genuine anger-management problems was pushing its staff to the breaking point, and Taffer's central task was simply to get the man to curb his temper. Friar Tucks in Pomona came with a theatrical exterior and a volatile boss, and Taffer enlisted comedian Doug Stanhope to sit in on the recon, an offbeat touch for a combustible rescue. The bar's role in the season did not end there: it later served as the stress-test and training site for another rescue, the Upland bar The Palace. Taffer worked to defuse the owner and rebuild the operation, then reopened Friar Tucks under a new German-themed identity, Stein Haus Brau and Brats, betting that a fresh concept and a calmer owner could keep a distinctive room from being undone by its own temper.

After the cameras left

Stein Haus Brau and Brats has since closed. A direct fetch of closeddownrestaurants.com, an independent listing site, confirms the post-rescue venue listed permanently closed at 540 East Foothill Boulevard as of a November 2025 entry, which puts the closure at medium confidence. A separate banned-tracker claim that the site has sat vacant since 2015 was not cited. The castle-shaped bar's German rebrand did not endure, and the Pomona room Taffer tried to steady is closed.
